Don’t Get Caught in the Sandtrap

For the first time ever yesterday, I played on an actual golf course.

To be honest, the whole experience was sublime.

Even without the humidity, yesterday was one of the hottest days of the season, but when the sun started to dip towards evening’s dusk, everything around us felt…indescribable.

Fabled, almost.

The golf course was surrounded by farmlands and on certain holes, you could actually take a few meandering sidesteps and look out upon a jaw-dropping vista.

That’s the whole point of golf, isn’t it? To be distracted by nature? Or is it that you’re supposed to relax and enjoy the fruits of our natural planet while still being competitive?

Haven’t quite figured that one out yet.

I am very excited to do this again.

A huge sense of relief, of which I felt like I didn’t require it in the first place because I’m already a very calm person, surged over me last night and left a fond sense of euphoria.

Our plans initially were to go see the Matrix 20th anniversary at the local theater, and while that would have satisfied my inner movie nerddom to complete perfection, I wouldn’t have traded last night’s grassy, tree-lined orange glow romp for else anything in the world.
