There’s Two Reasons

I’m unbelievably thrilled that people enjoyed reading my first poetry collection, just as much as I did writing it.

When I finished the first draft of this I thought to myself, “it’s definitely weird, but it’s fun and I feel like people might be able to relate to it.”

Friends and other writers of our creative trade have told me that my writing style would most accurately be described as a “stream of consciousness.”

I’m glad that someone defined it because I wasn’t quite sure that my process merited a name or identification.

Strange Cars in the Night, describing it once more on a whim here, is exactly what the title suggests.

To be completely honest, I know next to nothing about cars, which is what made this such a roller coaster of funness to write and construct piece by piece.

Here’s a few things that I learned about myself while most putting this zany compilation together:

1) Writing about night and the unseen psychological or literal terrors is more enjoyable than I once believed.

2) I’ve seen way, way, way too many movies and TV shows.

3) When I’m not watching either of the above, I’m listening to or thinking about music. It always proves to be a sparkling, unwrapped piece of inspirational candy to my written word, which is nice.

4) The idea came from when I was working overnights and driving on barren roads…over 10 years ago. Why it came back to me like this? Maybe because I was driving? Who knows where, when, and why ideas come to be.

5) I had a wicked fun time placing a hidden Easter egg somewhere in, around, or near the book. So far, not a single person (to my knowledge) has spotted it. All the more fun 😄✌🏻.

Anyway, if you’re hankering a swift injection of poeticus maximus a la mode (?), click the link and snag yourself a copy on Amazon.

Seriously, thanks so much for everything. I love logging on here and spilling more backwoods stream consciousness into the blogosphere, and to boot I’ve met some amazing people, writers, and brain trust operators of the modern day renaissance.

Enjoy your weekend!
